Celebrating 30 Years of InterStim™ Systems

As we celebrate 30 years of InterStim™ systems, we want to extend our heartfelt thank you to each one of you who has contributed to the expansion of Sacral Neuromodulation therapy. To celebrate together, we invite you to hear from your peers about what InterStim™ means to patients and the transformative impact it has had on their lives.

We also want to hear from all of you – so please join us in shaping the future of InterStim™ systems by sharing your feedback through this short survey:

Discover our new patient websites

We are excited to introduce our new website dedicated to helping patients with overactive bladder and faecal incontinence. The website provides detailed information about incontinence, various treatment options, and the therapy of sacral neuromodulation.

It also includes a resources section with downloadable documents and a clinic finder tool, allowing patients to easily locate hospitals offering advanced treatments near their homes.

Clinical Updates:
new AUA and EAU guidel

In April AUA in partnership with SUFU released updated guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of OAB.

These new guidelines group treatments according to their invasiveness (SNM is categorized as minimally invasive therapy alongside, BTX, PTNM, ITNM and accupuncture) and have eliminated the concept of treatment lines (i.e. suggesting a specific order by which treatments should be administered).

This means an additional emphasis on “shared decision-making between patients with OAB and clinicians, as well as a personalized, tailored approach to care”* according to guideline authors Anne Cameron and Ariana Smith.

Continuously raising awareness
about incontinence

World Continence Week 2024 took place from June 17-23 and we took the opportunity to launch a social media campaign in 10 European countries, aimed at patients and with the purpose to raise awareness about incontinence and its treatment options. Our goal is to encourage conversations, increase understanding, and help patients enter a care pathway.

Additionally, for healthcare professionals on LinkedIn, we have partnered with the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP), International Continence Society (ICS), and the World Federation of Incontinence and Pelvic Problems (WFIPP) to provide engaging and informative content.

Join us in supporting this important initiative to enhance patient care and awareness.

Medical Education updates

In late May, the ECMT Basic Course on "Pelvic Floor Neuromodulation" was held at University Hospital in Antwerp, Belgium. Led by Prof. Stefan De Wachter, Prof. Klaus Matzel, and Mrs. Sigrid Van de Borne, the course trained 20 participants from 10 European and Middle Eastern countries in Sacral Neuromodulation.

Highlights included patient selection sessions and VR-assisted live surgeries, enhancing interaction and visibility. The course, which achieved a 100% Net Promoter Score (NPS), also featured hands-on training in the cadaver lab.
